Sample Some Shrimp Bisque
with the Soup Guy
My friend, Kathy Huff, owner of The Conscious Bean, the coolest coffee shop on the planet is hosting an event next weekend. Sustainable hero, Alan Magan, owner of Chesapeake Gardens will talk about his sustainable soups, and the importance of soil enrichment for increasing vital nutrients in the human diet.
I am at Kathy’s shop right now, and she is holding a 3-lb pouch of Alan’s Chesapeake Gardens Turkey Chili that looks so tasty, rich, thick I can’t resist taking some home. The Conscious Bean not only serves this yummy soup in their cafe, but they sell the take-home pouches. They are selling quite a lot of take home soup these days, every order Kathy places is larger than the one before.
This special bone broth based chili has 66% of your daily vitamin A requirement in one cup! Each soup pouch has up to 5 servings in a re-sealable bag. Just heat and serve. Quick and convenient for all us foodies who are busy, on the go and need a nutritional lift with minimal effort.
Alan used to cater Wise Traditions, the Weston A. Price Foundation annual conference, which has ever since had to live up to a stellar reputation as a health food extravaganza. I guess he learned a lot about gourmet cooking and nutrition from WAPF Founder, Sally Fallon Morell. She now serves on his board of directors.
Alan started out in farming and now works with a network of sustainable farmers, fisherman, 5-star chefs and restaurants. His current business is a USDA approved soup manufacturing concern, Chesapeakegardens.com.
Johns Hopkins Research Center is working toward studying the healing benefits of the nutrient rich Chesapeake Gardens soups and stocks. Currently, Alan’s products are also being used in nutrition work with autistic children. Apparently, the autistic children are responding positively to the addition of his nourishing soup to their diet. The researchers are noticing the children are calmer, have fewer symptoms. There is hope for further healing over the long term.
Alan’s company slogan is Flavor for Life. I couldn’t agree more!
