Maryland Raw Milk Bills Killed in Committee

Reitzig Makes Headlines in Her Hometown Paper

The raw milk bill in Maryland is certifiably dead, according to Liz Reitzig. Killed in committee again.

But, a promising development, Liz, who is President of Maryland Independent Consumers and Farmers Association, is reaching out to the Maryland Dairy Industry Association. Perhaps, she will have the opportunity to share her message with more farmers, who will join us to help next year to get a bill passed.

Liz feels that her organization’s efforts this legislative session were not in vain, that important educational efforts with legislators are laying a foundation now for the passage of a raw milk bill in the future.

If you live in Maryland, please consider joining MICFA and giving your support to their efforts to save traditional dairy farms. Contact Liz via email:  Liz at micfa.net.

Meanwhile, maybe we can find some raw cheese makers who can help keep these dairy farmers alive in the meantime. Sounds like a good cottage industry, and green business opportunity!

Liz’s hometown paper has done a great story about the issue.
