Dr. Reddy recently gave me this website for anyone looking for an oriental medicine practitioner in their area:

www.nccaom.org

For those with cancer, who wish to explore oriental approaches, he also highly recommends Dr. Guo (pronounced Gwah) who is an herbalist/oncologist who is based in Chicago. His website is www.liferising.com and his phone 312-842-2775.

I am glad you have stopped the epidurals, Fred. My aunt has had several rounds of them to try to get relief from her horrible lifelong back pain and has developed arachnoiditis. Web MD says this:

"Arachnoiditis is a general term for several progressive regional disorders all of which result in the inflammation of parts of the middle membrane surrounding the spinal cord and brain (arachnoid membrane) and the space defined by this membrane (subarachnoid space). Either the spinal cord or the brain may be involved; in some cases, both are affected. This disorder can also be associated with meningitis. The condition may be caused by foreign agents such as anesthesia drugs or testing dyes injected into the spine or arachnoid membrane.

Since the subarachnoid space is continuous, it would be expected that a noxious agent introduced in one place would distribute itself throughout the space. However, such is not the case. The lower spinal roots and/or the spinal cord may be affected, while regions close by remain free of inflammation; hence, the term "spinal arachnoiditis"."

Arachnoiditis support groups estimate a 90% death rate to suicide because the excruciating and incurable condition leaves its victims with no hope of recovery. But, I'll bet your doctor didn't warn you of that side effect, did he?

For anyone experiencing back pain, epidural should be one of the last resort treatments after every other option is exhausted. Full disclosure to patients would also seem prudent.
