Thank you, Kimberly! We had similar sloppy reporting here in Georgia where illness was "linked" to raw milk consumption. The reporter refused to give details about the dairy, what tests were used, how the illness was linked, etc. In spite of that, the same story was quoted in 3 subsequent articles. It really irks me that raw milk is blamed when so many other foods are recalled almost every month for proven contaminants, and GMO foods are not even labeled for consumer choice. Don't mess with my right to drink real milk, please!

We are having similar problems here in Florida. I was so discouraged when I received the WAPF email alert about Whole Foods discontinuing the sale of raw milk in its South Florida stores. I immediately signed the petition and left messages at the regional and corporate headquarters with my complaint. When corporate called me back, she said it was "a business decision" and that she would pass on my input but there was nothing she could do.

The regional rep was more helpful when he called a few days later. He said the same thing about it being "a business decision" so I commented that I was surprised the milk wasn't selling well since they just added a whole new refrigerator section just for that product. He said they were required to do that so it wouldn't be sold next to the rest of the milk. I pointed out that having the raw milk two aisles away from the dairy section certainly wouldn't help sales. I asked if they tried raising the price. That's when he admitted that they didn't stop selling it for profit reasons. He suggested their non-homogenized product and even reffered me to realmilk.com to find a local retailer for raw milk.

Lucky for me, a Whole Foods employee (who shall remain nameless) referred me to a local retailer who is planning on setting up a delivery service in the area. My dog sure would be upset if she couldn't get her real milk fix (Florida allows raw milk sales for pet consumption only). She really does love it, as the drool attests (She also loves kefir, coconut oil, cod liver oil, and even sauerkraut!).
