Upcoming Workshop Holistic Prenatal, Postnatal Nutrition for Moms

Leslie Schall and her Newborn Baby

by Guest Blogger, Leslie Schall

Almost four months ago, at thirty-nine years old I became a first time mom of a beautiful healthy baby girl. Thankfully my husband and I were able to conceive naturally despite our “advanced maternal age”. My husband and I hoped because we had watched many others before us in their roles as parents that somehow our parenting learning curve would be shorter and things might come easier for us. As a certified holistic nutrition coach and educator I was sure that my health and the health of my baby would be a slam-dunk!

Our reality was not a shorter learning curve. Just like every other parent, our world drastically changed and we ate a slice of humble pie! As the saying goes, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, my experiences as a new mom reconfirmed my beliefs about the importance of eating real and nourishing foods especially during very stressful, or physically draining times.

What got me through the rough patches, sleepless nights and hormonal roller coaster to a place where I can love being a mom, my energy is back (on most days) and I’m back to my natural pre-baby weight, is my diet of whole REAL foods. I can’t imagine how bad those first few weeks of motherhood would have been or how much more drastic the emotional swings would have been if we were ordering Chinese takeout, popping convenience foods into the microwave and getting through the day with our caffeine soda fix.

If you are interested in learning

1. How you can move from convenience foods to nutrient dense foods that will both satisfy and help you lose weight and
2. where cravings come from and how to satisfy them in a healthy way;

I will be leading a 2 hour session at Beloved Yoga in Reston to share more about my journey and some tips that you can incorporate into your lifestyle to ensure that you and your family are eating healthy. Moms, dads, family members and ANYONE interested in learning more about how the prenatal, postnatal food you eat impacts your energy level and overall health are invited to attend.
