The Farm Bureau of Frederick County is teaming up with the Virginia and Winchester Main Street Foundations and the Winchester Old Town Development Board and will stage a farm fresh food festival in downtown Winchester this weekend. The event will be held on Winchester Virginia’s picturesque downtown mall on Saturday, October 6 from 10am -4pm.
Bring the kids, the strollers and your coolers for taking home some of Virginia’s finest, freshest food!
Agriculture and Forestry is the largest industry in Virginia and the third largest industry in Frederick County, where the event is being held. In Frederick County alone, there are $29,000,000 in gross sales annually!
Come out and meet the farm families that are making it happen! Learn about their enterprises, and what you can do to support them. Even take home a few goodies (don’t forget the cooler and ice to keep the food fresh!).
Downtown Restaurants will be getting in on the act, serving up local fare on their menus for the occasion. There will be cooking demonstrations, advice for gardeners, and even live farm animals for your children to see! Wine tastings by some of your favorite Virginia Wineries will be available. And, of course, music to enhance the whole experience.
Future Farmers of America and the 4-H Club will be there to help the kids in a pumpkin painting contest. It sounds like a classic fall festival and I hope you’ll drive out to the ‘country’ and enjoy the fresh air, sunshine. There is no rain date so definitely check the weather and go prepared.
Some wonderful sponsors are making this day possible, The George Washington Hotel, and WINC-FM 92.5.
