My Guest Post for Soaked Nuts Blog

Keith's Brother Thought he was 'Cracker's for Offering to Make Him Some

Recently, I came across a great new blog by a guy, who is “surviving Nourishing Traditions.” It struck me funny, because of all the wives who bemoan the fact that they can’t get their husband’s to embrace  the Weston A. Price lifestyle.

In the case of this blogger, however, this is a guy who is not only on board, but enjoys cooking and he is blogging about his passion for Nourishing Traditions!

I submitted a guest blog to him this week, a humor piece of what it is like for me to barely survive living with a man who is NUTS about Sally Fallon and her cookbook.

Here is an excerpt:

A well fed man, I’ve discovered, is a happy man. But a nourished man, well, he is a monster!

My husband is now deep into Sally Fallon territory, I have him reading the sidebars of Nourishing Traditions to me as I prepare breakfast. And, peering over my shoulder, while I cook, trying to learn NT techniques (in case I die, he explains).

He wants his granola soaked, his bread fermented for 7 days, and all his nuts crispy.

I must confess that I have made similar comments in public about restaurants,. Whenever we consider eating out, I first investigate the restaurant and its ingredients, which means that we almost never eat out. My wife, Keren, and my son miss eating out. I give Keren long detailed shopping lists. We spend a huge amount of time making our own kombucha, sauerkraut, fermented cilantro, meat broth, fish broth, beet Kvass, fermented ketchup, soak every grain we eat, etc.

When we shop together, I examine every item she puts in the cart, sometimes returning it to the shelves with public comments like “We can’t eat that!” “That’s poison!” “Didn’t you see the SOY on the label?!!

    Keith is not alone.
