Worth Fighting For

January 12, 2010

Many people die each year because of food poisoning and hazards, and we still don’t do anything about our food production. Animals still get raised in unsanitary conditions and in unnecessary numbers even after hundreds of food recalls, and why won’t anyone do anything about it? Maybe it is because many of the huge food producing companies possess an unbelievable amount of control. They can send messages out to the public denying their fault and then dump the blame on the farmers instead. The mostly innocent farmers get blamed because commercial companies push them farther and farther to produce more, more, and more, until it becomes no longer safe. How can we justify stomping all over the farmers like elephants when really the greedy multi-million dollar food corporations made the blunder? Then, after it all blows over the big companies can go on and make millions without facing any questions, and after another few years something else shows up quite similar and they remain open, still making a  plethora of money. When a company fails to provide safe food to the public more than once, they do not deserve to keep prospering. When I eat a salad, meat, or any kind of food from the store I shouldn’t need to worry that I might get deathly sick because of it, and I should be able to know that it was raised humanly and safely.
