Year ‘Round Farmers Markets, A Convenience That Should Not Be Ignored
Two weekends ago, Keith and I went to the farmers market and made a hasty retreat. It was so bitter cold, we could barely stand it. This past weekend, we went again, with a new appreciation for the sacrifices local farmers are making to sell direct to the consumer. We meet our farmers at the market, weekly, to provision our larder. I encourage you to do the same!
I interviewed one of the intrepid farmers braving the cold this Saturday. Please watch this video of the owner of Angelic Beef, Doug Linton, who raises grassfed, grain finished beef. He and a number of other wonderful farmers, sells at the smartmarkets.org market in Oakton, VA. Every Saturday all year around, from 10-2pm. Right now, they are at the Unity Church on Hunters Mill Road. Be sure and check the smartmarkets.org website for exact locations.

Will do my best for next weekend
I am sorry but I was under the impression all markets were closed untill Spring, will do my best to come this weekend
Our nearest farmer’s market runs all winter. What an amazing blessing! And how hardy those stalwart farmers are! It has been a bitterly cold winter so far, for the mid-South, anyway. I so appreciate them coming out and standing in freezing winds for the few customers who brave the weather to do their local shopping.

These farmers are at the heart of the real America.
Buy from them and hug them…..
