Click on This Issue and Look for Emancipating Local Food. Share this article far and wide to let people know that sustainable agriculture will not grow, unless we, the consumers demand it. Our regulators are causing so many hindrances for small farmers it is shameful. Buy local is a huge consumer trend, and now is the time to tell our government to back off and liberate these incubating small farms and ranches. In order to grow into healthy, prosperous farms, they need barriers lifted and the support of our public servants. Right now government is acting like the food police, instead.
Switch your buying habits to direct from the farm food. Support your local farm economy and watch your state prosper. When we spend money on conventional food, we are voting with our dollars to support inhumane animal treatment, adulteration of our food with chemicals and additives. We are also supporting the lobbyists of Agri-business who work behind the scenes to make regulations that are designed to squash competition from local farms. Our family now spends about 80% of our food budget on direct farm purchases. We hope to make that even higher!
