To my blog readers, my dear father passed away on April 15. I share with you the words of a speech he gave many times in the course of his lifetime. I have heard it many times and was always inspired by it. So, I wanted to share it with you in his memory. May he inspire you to the greatness you desire to achieve, in whatever your calling may be!–Kimberly

I would like to offer my condolences on your father’s passing, but I want to make sure that the strength of my emotion and attachment is clear. I am not exactly sure how to do that, except to make the following comment…
The very best men I have ever known have one thing in common: Their private selves and public selves seem to come together as time goes on. They come to represent their most private beliefs in a manner which is courageously public. They grow towards moral consistency, and their spiritual motives reach deeper and deeper into their surroundings. They start to make history because they cultivate an integral strength which can’t be unraveled by troubles. Eternity has a foothold in this kind of biography, and it is amazing what happens when strong men spiritually outpace that vanity which corrupts most strong men. Men like this are just different, and it hardly suffices to say that they are Christian. Rather they are strongly Christian, and their community makes death inconsequential. They live on, in Jesus, and they continue to act in His name from afar.
Your father was this kind of man, as was mine. I appreciate your loss, but I also understand — years after the death of my own father — that the intimacy endures and flourishes. I hope you will experience this fact, as I have, in the approaching years.
