Multi-Talented, but Don’t Know What to Do?
“To serve the present Age, my calling to Fulfill, O may it all my pow’rs engage to do my Master’s Will…Dissolve my heart in thankfulness.
I guess that’s the ultimate reason why I want to know what my “powers” are, to do my Master’s Will.”–Jill Kamp Melton
Hi, my name is Jill Kamp Melton, I am a friend of Kimberly’s. I emailed with her an exciting breakthrough in my life, and she asked me to share it with all of you!
As a person who has had many careers, I never felt that I knew which career to specialize in. After all, success coaches always say that specialization is the key to success. I have always been like the circus performer trying to spin 19 plates on top of metal spikes, all at the same time. It has been stressful and I have felt scattered and like I was missing some powerful link that would finally tell me where to specialize.
I even had a resume in vertical columns to show all the things I was doing simultaneously: college teaching, newspaper reporting, professional acting, consulting, stage directing, playwriting, etc.
A close friend in a church “home group” suggested we all buy the Strength Finders Book to take the inventory. It seems that spreading yourself too thin is contagious and I was one of many with this affliction.
Since I took the test, just a month ago, I am making much better decisions with my career, my friendships, what I do and what I don’t do on a daily basis. I didn’t wait to be inspired. As soon as I saw the report that Strength Finders gives you, I used it to cross out activities that didn’t fit and maximized time on the activities that did fit.
This has resonated with me tremendously because it “feels” right and my days are very productive and I am exhilarated with accomplishment and joy. Can’t explain it any better than that. I have resigned from Screen Actors Guild and realize that all the ideas that percolate in my brain everyday are not necessarily for me, but for others that I coach.
If you are working harder and enjoying it less, if you feel that you are spinning your wheels in life, stuck in a rut and not going anywhere, take the Strength Finders Inventory. I sound like a commercial but I am not. I wish I received a dollar for every test I have inspired someone to take. Then I would be off on another cruise!

NOTE from Kimberly:
Jill is an amazing woman who can do almost everything. I first met her while studying acting and voice at her theatre company. She has had a number of other successful endeavors since then. She is a mentor to me in many ways. I too, have had great results from aptitude testing. The particular test I took was through a company in Alexandria, VA called Ability Potentials. This test is what led me to choose the public relations field, and helped my younger brother Kevin to decipher a home building career.
To find out more about Strength Finders, email Jill through the “Contact Us” link on her website, if you have any specific questions and she will respond.
