Making Your Own Laundry and Dish Soap!

Homemade Dish & Laundry Soap

A while ago, I found a recipe on the internet for homemade dish soap. Here it is:

2 cups borax
2 cups baking soda
1 cup citric acid
1/2 cup salt
30 drops lemon essential oil

Mix and store in ziploc bag.

This gets my dishes sparkling clean!
My store-bought detergent was making the dishes come out of the dishwasher cloudy.

    hi, do you mean lemon essential oil, or just lemon juice?

    Yes, lemon essential oil, the words are there, but over to the left margin! I just reformatted the post so it is easier to read.

    Will ascorbic acid work? Is it the same as citric acid? Where would I find citric acid to purchase?

    I don’t know about ascorbic acid, but I order my citric acid through my local pharmacy. Does anyone else know about ascorbic acid?

    Kimberly, ascorbic acid is a form of vitamin C, the form most often used in supplements. I have not heard of it being used for cleaning.
