The Last Farm in San Jose, California

Nubian Goats Produce the Sweetest Milk, says Mike Hulme

One of the most widely circulated stories from my blog this past month is California Moves to Take Away Citizen’s Rights to Board Cows and Goats. Today, I want to share with you what has happened, since.

The Evergreen Acres herdshare owners have come out in force in defense of their rights. Here is a video made to show the world what a travesty it is to take away a family’s livelihood, especially at a time when politicians are posturing about creating jobs, jobs, jobs.

Michael Hulme and his wife Jane are fighting for the rights of Californian’s to own and board dairy livestock and pay farmers to milk the goats for them. Their farm and others just like it are being told to cease and desist serving the private interests of their private members. No harm has ever been caused by these goat and cow boarding programs, in fact nothing but good has come from them.

Please know that the raw goat products Evergreen Acres
Farm has produced has enabled our 8 year old daughter to
no longer suffer from acid reflux and other more serious
digestive issues which she’s suffered for 6 years.

Here is the lawsuit to preserve herdshare rights that Mike and several goat shareholders filed with the help of Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, and their lead attorney Gary Cox, who specializes in this area of law.

Currently a petition has over 1100 signatures of support for Mike’s efforts. Let’s double that today, with signatures from Hartke is Online! readers!

Sign the petition here, and be sure and make a comment, sharing your personal testimony or feelings about the issue.

So how come in this
time of school closings, library closings and other
horrendous budget problems, your office is wasting MY
Precious Tax Dollars, trying to close down a source of food
that has caused zero harm. Stop it! Stop it right now!

  1. How backwards is this? That people cannot produce food anymore? We live in a country founded by people who left cities and who had to learn how to produce their own food. How shocked would those pilgrims and the founding fathers be that farming is illegal?

Whatever happened to freedom of choice?  If I want to eat raw dairy products from a local farmer or my own back yard that should be my right.

Yet even ‘progressives’ seem to give in to big ag and the question is when are OUR rights as citizens to buy and consume organic foods going to be #1 ahead of big ag who only cares about $$$$$$$$$$$$ and whatever government handout they can get.

And goats are great for keeping brush down in fire prone areas, and the milk is the best ever!!.   Notice the DA isnt going after big ag and the producers of HFCS which is poisoning people.
