His and Hers Workout-Twice the Work, Twice the Reward

My husband wanted me to post his entry to today’s blog carnival. He wanted me to show some photos of our workout this morning. Keith and I have both overcome serious health issues through diet and exercise. A few years ago, I was facing a wheelchair from crippling knee pain. Today, thanks to making these lifestyle changes, I have avoided that fate. Keith was placed on blood pressure medication and told he would be on it the rest of his life.  These health issues were a wake up call. We were determined to conquer our health problems the natural way.

Warming Up on the Elliptical Trainer

We work out at the Fitness First gym of Reston. We are usually there for a full hour, every morning Monday thru Friday, and if we miss a day, we make up for it on the weekend.

After our cardio warmup, we usually do stretching in the aerobics gym, which is unoccupied that time of day.  Here is Kimberly doing the Cobra stretch.

Next we move on to floor exercises, usually focusing on the abdominal muscles.

Then, we move out to the weight room to do weight lifting. Every day, we do a different segment of the body, upper body-back, upper body-chest, upper body-shoulders, lower body-legs.

We didn’t start out working out together, but we ended up doing it. Keith pushes me and motivates me, and he loves my cheerleading. Together, we are building a new life with fitness at the foundation!

Keith no longer needs blood pressure medication, and I avoided cholesterol lowering drugs, and overcame debilitating knee pain. Our change in lifestyle has made all the difference. Keith used to boast about being a couch potato. And I used to think that was funny. Now we look back and shake our heads, glad to have made the shift toward wellness.

If we can do it, anybody can.
